Diana Umland Bos, Sunriver, Oregon
April 2005

My life in the resort community of Sunriver, Oregon for the past thirteen years was one of the best choices ever. It is so beautiful and peaceful here and activities abound … 38 miles of bike paths, 3 golf courses, fishing in the Deschutes River or any of a multitude of nearby lakes, canoeing, rafting, skiing at Mt. Bachelor, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, it goes on and on and on. I participate in as many activities as I can.

My beloved Jim went on to a Larger Life on August 22nd last year after a five-year struggle with Alzheimer’s which was complicated his last year with a broken hip, pneumonia and other physical ailments. His passing was here at home with Hospice care and surrounded by loving friends. Family joined us later for a “Remembering” at a park along the Deschutes River. I am comforted knowing that he is in a much better place and that there is no Alzheimer’s in Heaven.

Since then I have had time to get back into the swing of things and am now enjoying the Quilters Guild, Knitting Group, Women’s Club, Sunriver Christian Fellowship, Model A Club, Exercise Classes and going back to work for Sunriver Realty. A peace has come into my life as I reflect on the 40+ years we were together. So now I have GRACIE and BEAU (my kitties) for company along with so many close friends. I also have the comfort of belonging to a community which so lovingly reaches out to others. I can’t comprehend even trying to get through these last few years as Jim’s caregiver without all of them.

Besides the kitties and the abundant wildlife surrounding my home, I have the love of a huge family (two stepdaughters, six grown grandkids, and 13 great grandkids). Life is good. Now I can hardly wait to see all of you in October.
