Patricia Jane O'Shea
b.~1937
August 9, 2013

"When Irish eyes are smiling 'Tis like a morn in spring". That's the glow you felt when encountering Patti. The wee lassie was born to James Jeremiah "Jerry" and Marjorie Harnwell O' Shea in San Francisco, and miraculously survived after only six months in the womb. Her four siblings died in infancy.

Patti and James M. "Jim" Mitchell were married by the University Chaplin, the Rev. Robert Minto, at Stanford Memorial Church, and celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary surrounded by friends and family at a reunion hosted by Jim's brother John R. Mitchell, M.D. and his wife Anne, R.N. on June 30, 2012.

Patti attained her goal of not raising an "only" child, by becoming the mother of Janine, of Scottsdale, and John (wife, Laura) of Happy Jack. Patti was a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, not to mention a wonderful legal secretary, office manager and compassionate heart of Jim's private law practice, until they retired in December of 2009.

Patti passed away peacefully, at the age of 76, on August 9, 2013 after being lovingly cared for by family at home. Other survivors include grandchildren Hannah and Jessica, nephews James and Scott, nieces Jennie, Wendy and Amanda, and her faithful Golden Retriever "Cache".

Arrangements entrusted to Messinger Indian School Mortuary. A remembrance celebration will be held at a later date. No flowers, please. Donations in Patti's memory to the Arizona Animal Welfare League will be greatly appreciated by her family.

(Ed. Patty attended grades 3-8 at Washington ElementarySchool in Buringame CA. She also graduated from Burlingame High School in 1955.)
