Biography

Following graduation from Burlingame High School I enrolled at Stanford University. I graduated in 1959 with a major in History, and a minor in English. All in all, it was a great liberal education. And in the Fall of 1959 I was married to George Heberling (San Mateo High School Class of 1954).

In January of 1962, my husband's employer, General Motors, transferred us to Michigan. After 6 years there, GM again transferred us, so we packed up our three boys, two dogs and three cats and headed to Baltimore, MD, where we stayed for one year. Next transfer was to St Louis, MO, where we again spent a year. In 1970, we return to Michigan. When all of our boys were in school full time, I started working for a group of surgeons. During all this time we spent our vacations traveling through out the USA and Canada in our motor-home.

In 1989 my husband's job with GM required another move, this time to Arizona. This was a great move as we spent winters in Arizona at the GM Desert Proving Grounds and then spent the summers in Michigan at the Milford Proving Grounds there. After this move, I retired and learned to play golf!

My husband retired in 1995, and the following year we took our boat (a Sea Ray) and circumnavigated the eastern half of the US - traveling from Lake Huron, down the Mississippi River, across the Gulf of Mexico, and finally up the east coast and through the Erie Canal to lake Erie and home.

We had traveled this route by land in our motorhome over the years, but it gave us an entirely different perspective to see our country and the people by boat. Since then we have moved permanently to Arizona (where we can play golf all year), and travel. We have traveled to Europe and China, and this past winter we spent 6 weeks in Mexico in our motorhome. We've no idea where our next trip will take us, but we always find that travel in different countries educates us and makes us appreciate our country all the more.

Our three boys (all engineers) all live in Michigan, so that is usually a summer destination for us for a few weeks to catch up with the grandchildren as well as our boys. Life is good!

Enclosed is a picture of my husband and myself taken in Mexico at the ruins at Tulum in February, 2004. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the Reunion.
