It looks like he made it. Gleaned from the website* referenced below, Roger was a joint author of a technical paper on the Japanese Advanced Meteorological Imager ( a weather imager in geosynchronous orbit), a project of Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems, Santa Barbara Remote Sensing.
