Una Marlene Givens Scally

Marlene's 1955 Class Yearbook bio reads:

"Music, especially in the field of singing, seemed to hold great interest for Marlene, whose ambition is to be a singer. She was outstanding in the Sophomore Assembly and Talent Show. She also worked on the Spanish Club, Commission of School Affairs, A.G.S. Activitieis Committee, After-school Sports, and was in A Cappella for 4 years. Kids that Marlene leaches money from and expect her to pay them back is her pet peeve. She's going to Brigham Young University."

Biographical Sketch

IN MEMORIAM. Una Marlene Givens Scally, February 12, 2006, in Meridian, Idaho

Marlene was born in Phoenix, Arizona, on January 12, 1938. In 1940 the family moved to Burlingame and Marlene attended Pershing Elementary School (K-5). In the sixth grade Marlene enrolled at McKinley Elementary School, and graduated from Burlingame High School with the Class of 1955.

Following high school, Marlene enrolled at Brigham Young University and she sang in the Salt Lake Temple Choir. On her return home from BYU she taught dancing for Arthur Murray.

Marlene had three children by her first husband, Milton Barrrows - Mark, Mike, and Matthew Barrows. Marlene later married Dean Scally and they had a property management business in San Jose and Santa Cruz. Following Dean's death, Marlene moved to Ventura where she continued in property management. On her retirement, Marlene moved to Idaho because a granddaughter lived there.

Marlene is survived by her three sons; a sister, Donna Dougherty(BHS'53), of Carmel CA; and three grandchildren. Marlene was laid to rest in Colma CA.
