March l, 2005 Biographical Sketch

Matt and I were married in 1964 in Mountain View CA. Teaching was my career and flying airplanes for first the U.S. Navy and later for Western and Delta Airlines was his.

We have two children: Gavin James McCarthy, 35, and Maren Elizabeth McCarthy, 31. Both children are married and Gavin and Janel have one son, Jaden Phillip, Born Feb. 25, 2005. Maren and Scott have Fiona Anne, Born Feb 8, 2002 and Ainsley Elizabeth born April 15, 2003. Our son lives nearby in the Pt. Loma area of San Diego and our daughter lives in Burlingame.

Both Matt and I love travel and have enjoyed time spent at our condo in Honolulu and homes I have inherited in Cloverdale and Boonville, California. My passion is art and I have persevered over the past 10 by taking instruction and "making art".

I have had one show and shown my work in several group shows in San Diego. Oil painting and recently mono-printing are my interest. Our life is full and we feel very fortunate.

Recent travels have taken us to favorite places like San Miguel de Allende in Mexico (to see classmate Dee Williams Ropers); and Paris and Nice, France to visit with friends. We both have a love of reading, enjoying novels, biographies, travel books and Matt likes mysteries, spy thrillers and crossword-puzzles.

DIXIE McCARTHY ART

(05 May 2006) Dateline: San Diego. The Spring Student Art Show of the Art Academy in San Diego features, among others, the artwork of Classmate Dixie (Eason) McCarthy. The gallery showing runs through June 6. Co-incidentally, Dixie's new website debuts on the Internet. The site is well done and amounts to a cyber-gallery of Dixie's work. Last October Dixie was one of the artists invited to participate in a month-long workshop at the Vermont Studio Center for Artists and Writers. Artists and writers from all over the world were in attendance to develop their work and be critiqued.
